SAS Snack is a relatively new SAS initiative, started in 2008 by Campus Activities Chair Jill Mahoney. Since then, SAS Snack has been taken place nearly every Sunday. However, due to some planning difficulties and attempts at sharing Snack responsibilities, it became less frequent last semester. This has prompted some conversation among SAS members about the importance of Snack.
What do you think? Some SAS members feel that it is not truly a community building event since students just come to pick up the snack of the week and leave. Others feel that it is a good opportunity to bring students to the Student Union and makes SAS a more visible presence on campus. There have also been conversations about how frequently Snack should take place. Weekly? Bi-monthly? Monthly?
It is very important for SAS to receive feedback from the student body on issues such as these. Feel free to find any SAS representative and tell us what you think about the importance of Snack. Also be sure to attend the monthly SAS BeHeard forums in order to let SAS know how you feel about any topic at hand—from Hall Draw to student health issues on campus. We are here to serve you and would love your input.
